It is alleged a blown tyre caused the driver to lose control, crossing to the wrong side of the road and careering down an embankment.
The car was reportedly airborne before landing on its side in a paddock and rolling several times before coming to rest.
The man was able to get out of the car, which caught alight soon afterwards.
A witness contacted emergency services, however the car was completely destroyed by the time they arrived.
The man was taken to Macksville Hospital.
