WELL-ATTENDED and of huge benefit, the April Falls Day event hosted by Uniting Care Ageing together with the Mid North Coast Local Health District was hailed a success by coordinator Karen Dell.

“We haven’t seen a single person who was not at risk of having a fall sometime in the next six months,” Ms Dell said.
“Aged care of the future is all about getting people moving, getting them out of the nursing homes and the cycle of visits to doctors.
“By identifying the risks now we can get to work and prevent people from having those falls that can possibly kill them.”
The event, which was held at the Nambucca Bowling Club yesterday, included free falls risk screenings, free physio assessments, a tai chi display, information about home modifications, guide dogs and footwear advice.
