MAXINE Townsend has won the Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club women’s championships for the fifth straight year, carding a three-round total of 252.
Maxine has been a monument of consistency over the past year and is a deserving winner.
Runner up went to Glenys Thompson with a score of 272.
Division 2 winner went to Lee Beattie with a gross score of 298. This is a particularly notable achievement as Lee’s presence on the course has been spasmodic this year due to work commitments.
Runner up was Shirley Willis on 298. Lee and Shirley had to play a three hole play-off to decide the match.
Division 3 winner went to Sue Seymour with a gross score of 339. Sue is one the Island’s up and coming golfers, and has only been playing for 18 months.
Runner up was Lesley Buxton on 340.
Nett winners for the championships were Div 1 Coral McCann (21 handicap), our hard working captain with 214. Div 2 was taken by Ann Antcliffe (30) 212, and Div 3 by Sue Seymour (33) 240.
To the other 30 players who took part in the championships commiserations and just bear in mind that this time next year we can all line up for another go.
We wish to thank Mid Coast Trucks who were our generous sponsor for this event, with Adrienne presenting the winning trophy.
