The other members of the executive for 2012-13 are vice-president Jenny Ellis and treasurer and public officer Tony Stokes.
A president’s report was also tabled for the past year, where chamber reflected on a number of projects and its plans to grow its membership:
“During the 2011-12 year chamber has been active in representing the interests of Nambucca Heads businesses to a variety of governmental bodies
particularly Nambucca Shire Council.
“As a chamber our voice does have an effect on council decision making. Of course the stronger our chamber is the more influence we can exert.
“Our program of guest speakers has enabled chamber members to hear a wide variety of views on many different subjects. We will continue to invite and welcome guest speakers at our meetings.”
Chamber has also began a mosaic project which will see pieces of mosaic art placed around the Nambucca Heads area. This will complement the large mosaic centrepeice near the Police Station. The project also invloves chamber with a larger section of the community.
“The Christmas Street Event was a great success even though the weather was not the best. The concert in the Entertainment Centre was well regarded by the many who attended and helped develop a sense of community,” the report noted.
* Chamber welcomes all members of the Nambucca Heads community to join its meetings, which are famously short, informative and productive.
They are held on the second Monday of the month at 5.30pm in the Blue Room of the Golden Sands Tavern.
New ideas and new members are most welcome.
The next meeting will be held on August 13.
