NAMBUCCA Heads High School (NHHS) Year 11 student, Matilda Sutherland, has been chosen to attend the National Art School in Sydney.
She will attend the school during the July and September school holidays.
Students there work within a specialised
discipline – Matilda’s being painting – and use a broad range of media and art making processes.
In the studio workshops, students refine their ability to interpret and evaluate their own and others’ artworks and engage in sustained critical
reflection and evaluation.
They also gain practical skills in preparing for mounting and curating an exhibition.
At the end of the course the students will hold an exhibition to display the works they have completed as a consequence.
Matilda is part of the debating team at NHHS and is also busy working on her music selections for the HSC that she will complete next year.
