THREE people were arrested in Macksville this morning and are now being questioned over an armed robbery in Urunga.
Police said the Urunga Banana Coast Credit Union was held up at 9.50; when two men armed with a handgun and a tyre lever threatened staff.
The pair were disguised, one wearing a motorcycle helmet and the other a mask – it is understood they were both wearing hoodies.
Just over an hour after the Urunga robbery, officers took three people into custody in Macksville. They were handcuffed at the scene before being taken to Macksville Police Station for questioning.
The Guardian understands a vehicle was located and searched for weapons at the scene, which is thought to be the same car that fled the scene at Urunga.
