The winner, 15-year-old Christian Foster from the Illawarra, was the youngest athlete ever to win the event and the $3000 first prize money that came with it.
Foster won the final by about half-a-metre from Botany’s Michael Dotti and Queenslander Ardyn Foy.
Secretary of the Macksville Athletics Club, Greg Wood, said in spite of the weather, the standard of the entrants was good and the track in excellent condition.
He said standout local athletes were Bowraville’s Alina Tape, who had a clear win in the 300 metres and a comfortable first place in the Women’s Skins, and Sawtell’s Lenny Duroux who completed his 31st consecutive Gift.
