The kick that secured a Storm premiership

08 Oct, 2009 04:00 AM
It was not the most stylish kick seen in rugby league, but Greg Inglis’ field goal secured the 2009 premiership for the Melbourne Storm team on Sunday.

It was the fourth consecutive grand final appearance for the former Macksville resident, and saw him take home his second grand final win.

It is the latest in a string of achievements for the 22-year-old, who has also been part of the remarkably successful Queensland State of Origin team, and is a former Clive Churchill medallist.

Inglis’ performance was solid on Sunday, scoring a stunning individual try before booting the winning point to take the Storm to a 23 to 16 win over Parramatta. Melbourne last won in 2007.
