In a bid to climb back up the rugby league ladder, Nambucca Heads Roosters are starting the season with a new slogan... ‘a new beginning’.
Almost a decade of standing on the outside of the grand-final winners circle has seen the Nambucca Heads Roosters take some brutal and embarrassing falls to opponents across the Mid North Coast.
However, a committee overhaul is hoped to rebuild the club’s reputation on the field and strengthen the Roosters’ fan base, according to club treasurer Jodi Crow.
Hopes are already rising for the new season with 10 keen players already signing up for the challenge.
Keen footballers aged 18-years and older were invited to join the club in the new year.
Training for the 2010 season starts on Tuesday, January 5 at Coronation Park, in Nambucca Heads at 6pm. New and old players are welcome to sign up.
The new committee, headed by new president Glen Crow, hoped to encourage some of Nambucca’s former players to come back to the club for ‘a new beginning’.
First grade coach for 2010 is Garren Stig. Reserve grade coach is Craig ‘Browney’ Brown; and Under 18s coach is Peter Hull.
Roosters’ main sponsors, the Nambucca Heads Leagues and Sports Club, Nambucca Formwork and Northpipe Construction, are back on board for another year.
