On a freezing winter’s day local fans were treated to an entertaining afternoon of football. The local derby between the Nambucca Roosters and Macksville Sea Eagles stands at one all for this season, with Macksville victorious in all three games on Saturday.
The Roosters were unable to produce the form they showed when they defeated the Sea Eagles in their first match-up, at Nambucca Heads earlier in the season.
The Under-18s let Macksville back into the game when they went into their usual slump early in the second-half.
Reserve-grade saw Macksville take command right from the start, with the first try from Jesse McEwen in the first five minutes setting the scene for what was to come.
Macksville put another 34 points on the board in the second-half, to score a convincing victory over Nambucca, who could only manage two more tries.
It was a disappointing result for the first grade Roosters, who made too many mistakes, gave away too many penalties and chose poor attacking options.
Nambucca looked like they were back on track early in the second-half, when James Livock crossed over for a try following a Macksville penalty.
The Roosters failed to capitalise on their lead, despite the fact that Macksville had a player sin-binned.
