Nambucca Junior Ruby League, a small,
supportive, community-based club, will hold a registration and run-around day on Tuesday, March 2, at EJ Biffin Playing Fields, Nambucca Heads, from 4.30pm.
Club spokesperson Susan Jenvey said players who go along can receive a 10 per cent discount off their footy fees.
A second registration day will be held on Thursday, March 4 (however the discount only applied to Tuesday).
The season will start on April 17 and Nambucca’s small recruitment area means you’ll more than likely get to play a whole game; instead of sitting on the bench for a half, which happens at some of the bigger clubs, Ms Jenvey said.
At Nambucca JRL, there are structures in place offering coaches, managers and their teams plenty of support. There is also a system for dealing with poor behaviour.
The club has a state of the art website that is secured for use by children.
It has player and team profiles, match reports, and game information. Women are also welcome, with a high representation of them involved at committee levels.
There are plenty of positive male role models that engage and encourage, and supervise the boys.
“The kids gain a sense of achievement and develop great friendships along the way, as they learn about fitness, working as a team and what it takes to be successful,” Ms Jenvey said.
“Footy is also a lot of fun! Kids really love the training drills. And what a fantastic way to spend a Saturday morning on the mid north coast, lapping up the winter sun, barracking for your child and their Roosters’ team.
“Nambucca JRL also sponsors a couple of
family days, like a fun activity day and presentation day.
“Forget the bad boy hype of NRL, this is an enjoyable, community based sporting activity that is at the very heart of life in a small town like Nambucca, so families should come down and check it out,”Ms Jenvey said.
Registration days begin Tuesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 4 at EJ Biffin Playing Fields from 4.30pm. Prices are $70 one child, $95 for two, and $120 for three or more from the same family.
