The Macksville Sea Eagles campaign in the 2010 VB Gold Group 2 Rugby League Competition begins this coming Saturday, March 13 when the Eagles take on Northern United in trial games in the Under 18s and senior grades.
From Group 1, the United Club was due to trial against the Eagles last season, but the game was abandoned due to severe rain at the time.
Nevertheless, both clubs were keen to re-establish this early relationship and this Saturday’s games were the result.
Like the Eagles, United were runners up in their competition last season, also like the Eagles they went down by one point in the decider.
The trials will be a good indicator of the potential of both clubs strengths for the coming season.
In particular the game will see the local debut of French import Remy Bueno, who showed great form in the Club’s recent trip to the Tamworth 7s and promises to be a great acquisition for the club.
The Under 18s will kick off at 4pm this Saturday with the seniors to follow.
The trial kicks off a big weekend for Allan Gillett Oval, as Sunday will see a return of the Group 2 possibles/probables trial to the ground.
A big success last season, the game will kick off at 11am and will feature the best young talent in the group. Entry on the day will be free and the Group 2, Under 18s squad will be announced after the game.
In other Club news the Eagles are proud to announce that along with thirteen other CRL Clubs, they have joined the Department of Community Services in being part of the Let’s Tackle Domestic Violence campaign over the next two years.
A NSW Government which was launched last weekend, the Eagles are committed to fighting domestic violence and alcohol abuse in our local community.
With David Peachey to act as our local contact person, and support from the NSW Government, the campaign will be a vital part of the Eagles’ effort over the next two years.
