Bowra boys line up

24 Sep, 2009 11:52 AM
In a unique line-up, two teams from the same club will face off in a grand final this weekend.

The Bowraville Tigers Under-12s teams, named the ‘Black’ and ‘Gold’ sides, will play for the title at Woolgoolga on Saturday.

Gold beat minor premiers Kempsey at Nambucca Heads on Saturday to secure a place in the grand final to meet the other Bowra team, which went straight through after the first semi.

The excitement for the Bowraville Club was huge in the lead-up to this weekend, club spokesman Craig Doolan said, as four teams would be playing off for a premiership.

Along with the Under-12s Black team, the Under-13s and Under-16s both secured their place in the grand final early with major semi wins.

Woolgoolga will host all the grand final games, starting from 8.30am this Saturday.

Doolan called on supporters to make the trip to give all the teams their support on the day.

It has been an extraordinarily successful year for the Tigers (which has previously been named club of the year for five years in a row), with the Under-14s and Under-15s also making the semi-finals rounds. Both teams were knocked out.
