A busy afternoon was had last Saturday for local cricketers with two rounds of Twenty20 being played.
Nambucca Hotel now leads the competition with their two wins followed by Macksville Ex-Services. Warrell Creek started the season with three wins but after Saturday’s two losses are now back in the middle of the pack.
Macksville Country Club and Bowraville also suffered two losses and find themselves at the rear of the field.
Taylors Arm batted the highest innings of the day by scoring 5/185 against Bowraville’s 9/83. Two brothers John (44) and Thomas Rowe (40) starred for Taylors Arm while Steve Wilks (35 not out) and Trevor Welsh (32) also batted well.
Tony John with 5/9 took the bowling figures of the day in this game. Ron Gleeson toiled hard by scoring 50 in his team’s loss against Nambucca Heads. Bowraville scored 9/83 in chasing Nambucca Heads 6/143.
Dane Luffman with 75 was the top scorer of the day in Nambucca Hotels innings against Warrell Creek.
Ex-Services 8/119 defeated Macksville Country Club 5/117 at Thistle Park turf. A feature of this game was the fielding with Ben Oliver taking three catches and Kyle Miller grabbing a freakish one-hander.
Next Saturday will see another double-header with Talarm, Nambucca Hotel, Nambucca Heads and Macksville Ex-Services at Biffin Field and Coronation Park while Warrell Creek, Macksville Country Club, Bowraville and Taylors Arm will be at Thistle Park turf and Donnelly-Welsh.
