Some very exciting results at the North Coast Cross Country Championships mean that Macksville High School has a number of students going to the CHS/All Schools carnival in July for the first time.
Both the MHS teams that ran at Murwillumbah performed strongly and are now North Coast Champions for 2009.
The 18 girls team results were: Ellie Fuller (1st – NC Age Champion), Jessica Langham (4th), Tulsa Daley (10th), and Renae Power (18th).
The 16 boys’ team results were: David Gregory (4th), Beau Lavender (6th) and Anthony Donnelly (9th).
Both these teams led from the start and looked strong throughout their races. They are both real medal chances at the CHS carnival.
Apart from Ellie, they are all North Coast Cross Country representatives for the first time, and all ecstatic with their selection.
Alina Tape was too strong in the 12 girls and set a cracking pace in her 3km race to become North Coast Champion for 2009.
Beau Tape (14 boys) and Kirstie Pedrola (13 girls) both finished 5th respectively in their races, to qualify to run at Eastern Creek in July.
MHS was also represented by Mitchell Hawkes, Michael Fowler, Skye Costello, Sharni Tape, Jessica Howe, Naryan Neubauer, Jeremy Shrubb, Allison Lawler, Brittany Atkins and Sean Brien, who also performed well in their events.
Some of these athletes ran very strong races, and finished well above their zone results.
We congratulate the achievements of all our athletes and wish our ten North Coast representatives all the best at the NSW CHS/All Schools carnival in July. Bring on the green jackets!
