With just over 60 patrolling members having passed their proficiency tests on Sunday, October 25 the Macksville Scotts Head Surf Life Saving season is again in full swing, with the beach being regularly patrolled by proficient members.
The Sunday was a busy day for the club, with the Nippers beginning their season on the same day and a large number of juniors available on the day, ensuring strong future for the club.
Those members who were unable to attend the proficiencies on that Sunday can take the opportunity to catch up on their qualifications on Saturday, November 14.
The club has been given permission by the branch and by New South Wales SLS to use the services of an assessor from Sydney who will be at Scotts Head for the carnival that weekend to allow members a second opportunity to pass their proficiencies.
That Saturday will also see the first day of the club’s annual carnival weekend, with competition for all members on either the Saturday or Sunday and the promise of some exciting events for anyone looking for beachside entertainment that weekend.
The Bronze and Surf Life Saving Certificate training squad will have an introductory training morning this Saturday, November 7 at the clubhouse at 9am. Anyone interested in joining the squad for either of these qualifications is welcome.
At this stage the club is also looking at running a First Aid Course in mid January.
While primarily an award for SLS members it is also possible for members of the public to use this qualification, so contact the club if you are interested in doing this course.
