 Medal round postponed

Medal round postponed

12 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
Melbourne Cup day at the club proved to be a real winner for the 80 odd players who hit off in the Ambrose event.

With some players not eligible for a handicap, results turned out to be a bit of a mixture.

Prizes given out were all TAB tickets in one form or other with prizes also for the best dressed in a cup theme with best hat for the day taking on a real flavour for the girls and boys alike.

Lunch vouchers also gained prizes of each-way bets of various amounts and some mystery quaddies and doubles giving all a chance to win as well the usual sweeps proving as popular as ever.

Decoration in the club house gave the day a real cup day feel and for the many who turned out for a little bit of fun found that the golf club provided for them.

No doubt ‘The Fish’ needs water to swim in and also play golf it appears as Thursday’s result went to Bob Troughton with a round of 41 points.

Our field of 70 was pretty good given the conditions early in the day with the rain taking hold and many pulling out as they say ‘I do not do rain’.

Swimming in behind Bob was Wayne Perrie (Macksville) on 40 points to collect the runners-up voucher just in front of Hal Black on 39 points to get

the countback from Logan Toms (Woolgoolga) also with 39.

Others to show some form for the day Bruce Aidan, Rupert Mullen, and James McArthur (Macksville) all with 38.

Striking some form in his second game back was Justin Saker to head

a group on 37, these being Trevor Kennedy (Macksville) Mick Lee, and Daniel Glasson, Daniel getting the better of his ‘Old Man’ for the first time ever.

Nearest-the-pins went the way of Greg McCoy,Logan Toms (Woolgoolga), Chris Swan, Rupert Mullen and Don Penson (Woolgoolga), Peter Delaney once again put his name on the money shot. Ball rundown for the round went to 35 c/b.

With the wet weather again taking over, there was no play in the Saturday medal round and that will be moved to next Saturday (14th).

Also Sunday’s Top Gun Shoot Out was called off after the Greens Committee inspection at 6am took place and consultation with the greens staff of the day was held it was felt that to be fair to all it would be better to cancel the game and put it on the first available date.
