Conditions at Coffs last Saturday were difficult, with pouring rain hitting the football fields in waves.
The Strikers’ Under-14 boys team played against the Boambee Bombers and started well with a goal by Lachie McRae.
The game went end-to-end with Boambee scoring either side of half-time, and then Ryan Cooper sent in an across field ball that Caleb Richards’ scored off.
Boambee pounced on a loose ball and scored with the last touch of the game.
Andrew Knox and Mango Jones were outstanding for the Strikers in midfield and defence.
The Strikers Under-13s matched it with Boambee, scoring nil-all at end of regular-time.
Going into extra-time the match was a close affair.
It was not until the second-half of extra-time that the home advantage gave Boambee the edge to score twice and secure progression to the next knock-out final.
The Strikers Under-13s have been a sound and competitive side all season – great effort.
The Strikers Under-16 girls were perhaps put off by the squalls of rain, unable to find the goal this game.
Coffs Tigers scored once and that was enough to take them through to the grand-final in two weeks.
