Macksville troop rolled by Talarm

The second round of senior cricket into the New Year saw competition leaders Macksville Ex-Services get rolled by Talarm.

This match was played at Donnelly/Welsh where Ex-Services batted first; they were dismissed for 104 in 22 overs with opener Troy Grace top scoring with 42.

Talarm brothers Bryan and John Cowan picked up three wickets each while James Livock took two.

Talarm then batted and scored their winning run in the 20th over.

They did lose eight wickets in achieving their victory with James Livock top scoring with 57 not out. Grant Collison was Ex-Services top wicket taker with 5/12 from seven overs.

Across the road at Thistle Park turf Macksville Country Club batting first scored 114 all out in 39 overs.

Lee Osborn top scored with 43 while Steve Wilks was Taylors Arm top wicket taker with 4/13 from eight overs.

Taylors Arm in reply scored the winning run in their 34th over.

Opener Damien Powell batted right through and remained 64 not out. Darryl Crossingham took 3/24 from eight overs while after a spell of eight years Darrell Flanders took two wickets from his eight overs. Taylors Arm winners by two wickets.

A tight game was expected at Coronation Park where Nambucca Heads played Nambucca Hotel. The home team batted first and were bowled out for 186in the 33rd over with Aaron Clarke 53 (47 balls including 8 boundaries) top scored.

Jimmi Allen was Hotels top wicket taker with 3/46 from five overs. Hotel then batted and started steadily but then lost wickets to be 4/59 after 13 overs. Jack Coleman (31) and Jason Frost (21) then put on 60 for the 5th wicket.

Wickets then continued to fall after this partnership with the Hotel all out for 166 in 37 overs. Good spells of bowling by Matt Hardy (3/24), Brad Ronan (3/24) and Josh Bryne 2/29 kept the Hotel 20 runs short of a win. An alarming statistic from the Heads bowling was 32 extras that included 23 wides and no balls.

Warrell Creek travelled out to Bowraville where Warrell Creek batted first. They scored 9/133 in their 40 overs with Joe Costa top scoring with 68 and Tom Mann

making 19.

Marc Gill, Elliot Keen and W Jarrett each took 2 wickets for Bowra. Bowraville openers Ken Walker (37) and Luke Gill (54) got off to a great start with an 83 run partnership.

They lost a run of wickets but then Josh Fleming (24*) and Elliot Keen (11*) came together and guided Bowraville to a victory in the 23rd over. Joe Costa and Brody Bartlett took three wickets each for Warrell Creek. Bowraville winners by four wickets.
