Hughes makes mark in Champions League

15 Oct, 2009 04:00 AM
NSW continued its winning steak at the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in New Delhi on Tuesday (12th) thanks in part to Macksville’s Phillip Hughes.

The Blues scored two for 130 thanks to a winning partnership with man-of-the-match and all-rounder Moises Henrique (51 off 33) and local youngster Hughes (62 off 64).

Playing Sussex, Hughes partnered with David Warner to put on 35 for the first wicket before Warner (14 from 18 balls) was run out.

Hughes then watched Daniel Smith (2) come and go before teaming up with Henrique.

The Blues managed a 35-run win over the English county side, with eight for 95 from their 20 overs.

NSW now moves to Hyderbad to prepare for stage two.
