Home teams have field day

Round two of local Twenty20 cricket was played last Saturday with three out of four home teams having wins.

Ex-Services batted first at Taylors Arm and were dismissed in the 16th over for 103.

Jake Fuller (32) and James Collison (13) were the only batters to reach double figures.

Rick Fry bowled well and finished with 5/16 from his four overs.

Taylors Arm in reply were in big trouble at 5/23 when Trevor Welsh (34) joined Rick Fry (32 not out) and put on 71 for the 6th wicket.

Next man in Thomas Rowe remained 10 not out when Taylors Arm claimed a win by four wickets in the 19th over.

Ex-Services’ top wicket-taker was Grant Collison with 3/20.

Talarm batted first against Warrell Creek at Thistle Park turf and scored 6/103 in their 20 overs.

Colin Moxon (37) and Rod Chaseling (30) batted well while Tom Mann claimed the bowling honours with 3/6 from two overs.

Warrell Creek then batted and scored their winning run in the 19th over with Joe Costa (48) and Kyle Mann (20 not out) top scoring for Warrell Creek, won by seven wickets while John Cowan and Jenny Brabant each took a wicket for Talarm.

Nambucca Heads players were at home against Macksville Country Club.

The visitors batted first and completed their 20 overs with 8/87. Brad Oliver (18) and Neale Howle (15) top scored while Brad Ronan (3/30) and Josh Byrne (2/4) were Nambucca’s best with the ball.

Nambucca Heads (1/91) replied in quick style by claiming victory in the 10th over.

Matt Ramsey (39 not out) and Peter Lee (35) put 71 for the opening stand. Dave Ringstad was the only wicket-taker with Nambucca winning by nine wickets.

Nambucca Hotel travelled out to Bowraville where they had a win against the home side. Bowraville, batting first, scored 4/130 with Luke Gill (43), Ryan Cooper (33) and Marc Gill (29) all batting well to give their team a respectable score.

Luke and Ryan gave Bowraville a great start by opening their innings with a 76 run stand.

The Hotel then batted and scored the winning run after 16 overs. They lost just three wickets with Jake Coleman (44 not out) and Dane Luffman (38) combining well for a 68 run second wicket stand. Dean Welsh (23) and Jason Frost (18) also batted well.

It was an afternoon for the batters at Bowraville with no bowler from either team claiming more than one wicket.

Next week’s draw is: Nambucca Heads v Warrell Creek at Coronation Park; Bowraville v Ex-Services at Bowraville; Macksville Country Club v Talarm at Thistle Park turf; and Taylors Arm v Nambucca Hotel at Taylors Arm.
