The first round of local senior cricket was played last Saturday under fine sunny weather.

Warrell Creek batted first against Country Club at Thistle Park turf and finished with 4/167 from their 20 overs. Joe Costa (44), Terry Baldwin (36 not out) and Tom Mann (25) were the top scorers while L Osborne and Rick De Ruiter each took a wicket for Country Club.

Tom Mann and Joe Costa opened the batting with a 59 run stand.

Country Club in reply batted out their 20 overs but could only muster 115 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Darryl Crossingham (34) and L Osborne (23 not out) top scored while Max Vernon (3/25) and Charles Bush (2/7) were Warrell Creek top wicket takers. Darryl Crossingham and Ben Oliver (20) batted out a 51 run partnership for their second wicket.

Nambucca Heads travelled out to Taylors Arm and came home winners by four wickets. Taylors Arm batted first and made 5/108 in their 20 overs.

John Rowe (45 not out) and Ben Mulvihill (21) top scored while Greg Watts, Josh Bryne and Scott Savage each took a wicket for Nambucca Heads.

Nambucca Heads in reply scored their winning run with five balls to spare.

Adam Clarke (33), Justin Saker (27 not out) and Matt Ramsey (25) top scored while N Summer (3/12) and Daniel Ledger (2/12) were Taylors Arm best with the ball.
