Three teams now share the lead in senior Saturday cricket – Macksville Ex-Services, Nambucca Heads and Taylors Arm are all on 48 points with Nambucca Hotel coming in fourth position with 47.
Two surprise results came out of Saturday’s game with leaders Ex-Services being toppled by wooden spooners Macksville Country Club.
The other surprise was the lack of runs scored at Donnelly/Welsh – here Nambucca Hotel played Warrell Creek. With just seven players Warrell Creek’s side was dismissed for just five runs.
Charles Bush top scored with four while Matt Lindsay took 5/5 from 4.5 overs.
This innings total would have to go down as the lowest in this district in any grade, in any era.
The Hotel needed just 2.3 overs to win and did so by nine wickets.
Across the road on Thistle Park turf Ex-Services batted first against Macksville Country club.
They were dismissed for 74. In their 19th over, Matt Ward top scored with 32 while Tyler Doolan batted well for 18. Lee Osborn (3/4) and Darryl Flanders (2/13) were the Country Club’s top wicket takers.

Nigel Sumner (37), Andrew Maggs (28) and Tony Johns (23*) were the best while Elliot Keen bowled eight overs and took 2/21. Bowraville in reply were out for 103, with Luke gill top scoring with 36. Five bowlers took two wickets, each with Kevin Laverty getting the best figures of 2/3 Taylors Arm winners by 51 runs.
Talarm played Nambucca Heads at Biffin Field where Nambucca won the toss and batted. Talarm bowlers were on song with early wickets to Andrew Fredericks (six overs 1/22), James Livock (eight overs 1/27), Bobby winner (five overs 2/25 and on a hat-trick in his first over), Jenny Brabant (seven overs 3/26) and John Cowan (eight overs 3/29) had Nambucca 5/30 in the 12th over and then 7/70 into the 20th over.
An excellent innings by opener Matt Ramsey (53* off 107 balls with four fours and one six) carried his bat through the innings and allowed Nambucca to claw their way to 135 all out in the 35th over.
Talarm started their innings with confidence with Rod Chaseling (23 off 46), James Livock (27 off 37) and Chris Budden (36 off 36) getting them to 4/78 at drinks.
Some smart fielding and tight bowling followed the break allowing the Nambucca side to keep
the pressure on, eventually dismissing Talarm in the 31st over for 125. Justin Saker (3/22) and Josh Byrne 2/26 were Nambucca’s top wicket takers. Nambucca Heads won by 10 runs.
