Boxers hit bowlo for local bout

18 Feb, 2010 09:27 AM
Local boxers are training hard for next month’s tournament at the Nambucca Heads Bowling Club. It will be the Valley’s third greatly anticipated event since the sport was welcomed back to the bowlo last year after more than 20 years in remission.

Event coordinator and boxing coach Ian Stapleton said Saturday, March 6 was set to be the most anticipated local boxing event yet.

The main round for the night was a bout between Macksville’s Adam Partridge and Inverell’s Darren Finn for the Northern NSW light middle-weight title.

The super heavy-weight title will also be contested by boxers from Grafton and the Gold Coast.

The night also marks the first North Coast female boxing match and features local Bowraville fighter ‘Polly’.

Familiar young faces such as Jake Hoban, Jack Brunell, Billy Lindsay and Col Scott will join some nine locals in the ring for a chance at victory.

Tickets are $25 per person. Boxing enthusiasts are encouraged to book tickets early to be guaranteed entry into the event, which is growing fast in popularity among boxing clubs throughout the State.
