Students from St Mary’s Primary School and Bowraville Central School recently enjoyed sleep-over camps at the Scotts Head Christian Youth Centre.
The camps were part of a healthy lifestyles program conducted by Ritchie Donovan in his role as the Nambucca Valley sports and well-being facilitator, funded by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and auspiced by the Nambucca Shire Council.
Ritchie and his team catered for over 70 students and teachers from the two Bowraville schools.
The students participated in games and fitness drills as well as a ‘protective behaviours’ program
conducted by the senior students at Scotts Head Public.
The students and staff were overwhelmed by the success of the camp. They were kept busy for the two days with plenty of healthy food, games, recreational pursuits and stimulating sessions with the SHPS students.
Bowraville assistant principal Owen Rushton praised the success of the camps.
“The two days with Ritchie were well and truly worthwhile for our students,” he said.
“Not only for the fitness benefit but for the coaching Ritchie provided and for the personal safety hints the students learned with their Scotts Head buddies.
“The friendships formed with Scotts Head Primary will continue to grow through virtual activities using video conferencing technologies and emails.”
