The crowd that turned out to contest the Paul Davis-Welsh Memorial golf day on Sunday (18th) were treated to fine weather and top playing conditions.
A total of 120 golfers were booked in for the event, which raised funds for junior league and other local not-for-profit organisations.
After the morning of golf, a charity auction was held, featuring a host of collectable memorabilia, including a boxing glove previously belonging to sporting great Muhammad Ali and a range of NRL goods.
The proceeds of the day will go towards the Paul Davis-Welsh Memorial Foundation, which has been working to promote junior rugby league and opportunities for talented juniors.
It was founded by Paul Davis after the death of his son, Paul Davis-Welsh, three years ago.
Among the acts of the foundation has been the creation of the Greg Inglis/Paul Davis-Welsh junior league tournament, held annually in Kempsey at Easter.
Proceeds from this year’s golf day were also to go to organisations that supported the foundation, including Kempsey PCYC, Dunghutti Youth and Culture, Bowraville Junior League, Kempsey Dragons Junior League, Nulla Sunrise Junior League and Group 2 Junior Rugby League.
