Youthfest 2010... action-packed

08 Apr, 2010 04:00 AM
Coronation Park’s skate rink at Nambucca Heads is the site for ‘Youthfest’ 2010 on Sunday, April 11.

This year’s event is packed full of exciting activities according to spokesperson, local youth worker Chris Hewgill.

The final line up on the day has been announced with an all-ages skateboard competition featuring riders from across the Mid North Coast.

Other activities featured on the day include a skate-pro demonstration, and a DJ line-up including DJ B9, Bran, Jackie Onassid and Some Kind.

Graffiti art demonstrations by Snarl and his friends will also be a big hit on the day, Mr Hewgill said.

Local youths can also take part in Djembe Drumming at the Youth Connection stall, and be inspired by local Jaaning Tree Restaurant chef Clayton Donovan’s cooking demonstrations.

Other attractions on the day include a jumping castle for the kids, the Rotary Nambucca Heads barbecue; launch of the Party Smarty Youth Mobile Café, as well as many youth friendly stalls including Murrabby Aboriginal Language Centre, Youth Connections, Nambucca Shire Council’s Youth Week Info Stall, Reconnect Youth Service and MiiMi Aboriginal Cooperation.

“Youthfest 2010 continues its family theme from last year of bringing the whole community to celebrate our local youth in Youth Week,” Mr Hewgill said.

The event was coordinated by Nambucca Valley Youth Services Centre under MiiMi Aboriginal Cooperation Better Futures funding.

Support for this year’s event comes from Nambucca Shire Council, Coronation Park Trust, Coastal Curves Surf Shop, Globe, Party Smarty Anti-Binge Drinking Strategy, Element, Evolve, many others.
