What will happen when you die?

Local residents are encouraged to come along to a free Wills Day in Nambucca Heads next Thursday.

The special event is being organised by the NSW Trustee & Guardian, which will have expert staff on hand for people to make or update their Will.

If you don’t have a Will, you’re not alone - a recent Newspoll survey revealed that 45 per cent of the adult population in NSW does not have one.

If the unthinkable happens and you die without a Will, your loved ones have no choice over who gets what, regardless of what you may have told them during your lifetime.

This means that friends, family members, even partners and children may not inherit in the manner you assume they will. If you have a professionally drafted Will you can set out your wishes exactly on who will inherit your assets and belongings.

It is also important for people to update their Will every time their life circumstances change such as when they buy a house, have children or grandchildren, get married or divorced, or start a business.

“During the Wills Day, our experienced staff will be available to prepare a legally valid Will which reflects your current circumstances,” said Jennifer Edwards, branch manager, NSW Trustee & Guardian, Port Macquarie.
