Representatives of the Nambucca Shire travelled to the Rosehill Gardens Grand Pavilion, Sydney, to shine a spotlight on the Valley at the NSW Country and Regional Living Expo, between August 6 and 8.
Nambucca Shire Council’s Corporate Services Business Development Manager Wayne Lowe said the purpose of Nambucca’s presence at the show was to advertise existing market listings, including the opportunities for house and land packages across the shire.
Vacant positions were also advertised, in the search of skilled people who could not be found, or were not available, within the shire.
The foundation for regional development, marked in a media release, recorded 8,765 visitors at the three-day event, breaking the previous record of 8,500.
Two-thousand copies of the Guardian News accompanied Mr Lowe on his trip south. More than 1600 were picked up by interested parties.
Mr Lowe said he, and council employees manning the Nambucca booth, were run off their feet with enquiries into a range of products, including real estate, tourism and information on the newspaper.
“It exceeded our expectations, it is clear Sydney is overcrowded, and a large percentage is looking to move,” Mr Lowe said.
In all his time as business development manager for council, Mr Lowe said this expo was the largest enquiry into Nambucca he had seen at any trade show.
Nambucca placed as a competitively priced location, in all sectors of industry.
Mr Lowe said eight industries and 200 jobs were attracted to Nambucca in the past five years, as a direct result of the promotional initiatives.
