Rainfall in the Nambucca Valley eased overnight on Tuesday (24th) resulting in a slight drop in river levels.
However, with more than 250mm of rain falling in the 53 hours to 4am yesterday (25th) Bowraville was expected to continue experiencing moderate flooding.
The Nambucca River at Bowraville (Lanes Bridge gauge) dropped to a minor flood level of 5.6m at 5.12am on Wednesday.
The river had continued to fall, mainly due to tides.
Yesterday afternoon the river was measured at 7.10m.
However, further rainfall was forecast for the next 12-24 hours, which could result in river rises again.
SES Nambucca Valley Controller Leanne Cooper yesterday (25th) said weather watchers were keeping an eye out for another dump which had been sitting off Woolgoolga on Wednesday morning.
"It is now a waiting game," she said.
She said the rain situation also depended on another low sitting off Brisbane and the Gold Coast, which was
being fed by an additional low in Darwin.
“We don’t know if it will move down the coast,” she said.
Small pockets of the Nambucca Valley are expected to be isolated as rising floodwaters result in rivers and creeks breaking their banks.
At 9am yesterday the Nambucca River at Lane’s Bridge was 5.2m and steady, Taylors Arm at Utungun was 2.23m and falling, while the river at Macksville was 1.05m and rising.
