Students get insight into workforce

Year 12 Business Services, Construction, Hospitality and Metal and Engineering students have been at workplaces connecting with local businesses to expand their knowlegde of the work force.

Tameliah Forrest is one of the students on work placement at the North Coast Institute of TAFE’s Macksville Campus.

North Coast Youth Career Connections Program Coordinator Helen Mower said Tameliah was assisting with data entry for student enrolments. Campus Manager Phyllis Mann was very pleased with Tameliah’s computer skills and assistance with this task.

The programs was aimed at giving students a taste of the workforce to possibly help them choose a future career path.

Businesses involved in the work placement program included TAFE; Macksville Radiators and Mower Centre; Ngurrala Aboriginal Corporation; Macksville Ex-Services Club; National Australia Bank; Richardson and Wrench; Lee’s Stuarts Point Chinese Restaurant; The Star Hotel; Yarra Steel Frames; and Midcoast Trucks.
