Scotts Head Caravan Park future on the table

Scotts Head Caravan Park future on the table

18 Mar, 2010 04:00 AM
The fate of Scotts Head caravan park and reserve area will be sealed today at Nambucca Shire Council’s general purpose committee meeting.

At the meeting council will decide whether or not to give in-principle support to the Scotts Head Master Plan model put forward by Integrated Site Design.

As outlined in Nambucca Shire Council Director of Engineering Services Bruce Redman’s report, council would conduct a workshop to assist councillors to make a decision on the Scotts Head master plan, allowing the Land and Property Management Authority to make a determination on how and if it would proceed with an upgrade of the Scotts Head caravan park.

Council could only control the use of its own land, which was the reserve area abutting Adin Street, Scotts Head, including the Adin Street oval.

The Land and Property Management Authority advertised for public comment on the preferred option for the redevelopment of the caravan park.

This generated a large response, which was summarised in a report to council on November 5, 2009.

There had been continued feedback from the community since the formal exhibition, Mr Redman said.

Overall, the submissions outlined a desire to leave the semi-permanent sites at the caravan park where they were currently located, and turn Adin Street into the village green.

“The Land and Property Management Authority is not asking council to decide on what the best alternatives are, rather they are asking the question about what type of use is acceptable for the council managed land, which includes the current leased area and Adin Street oval,” Mr Redman said.

“The matter should not be deferred any further.

A decision needs to be made and put to the Land and Property Management Authority.”
