The time of year has rolled around again when Year 12 students’ months of hard work are tested in the Higher School Certificate (HSC), which began earlier this week.
A total of 118 Nambucca Valley students joined more than 65,000 secondary year students from throughout the State for part of the English paper yesterday (21st).
Students at Nambucca Heads High School came out of the exam with a general sense of accomplishment.
Students said yesterday that, although they could never be too prepared for the exams, their study techniques seems to be proving their worth.
For most students, yesterday’s exam was the first in the list of HSC exams to come over the next couple of weeks.
While students are under pressure to study hard, help is not far away if the stress becomes too much.
Apart from school teachers being on hand to help with any HSC question or dilemmas, students can also turn to free, online advice for last minute essay writing help, study tips, and guidance.
The free service enables students to log online to ask qualified, real-life tutors questions about school subjects.
The online tutors have seen thousands of NSW students ask questions in just October, with HSC exam topics a popular query.
The moment students are stuck on a schoolwork problem they can log in and are connected with highly qualified Australian-based tutors, Jack Goodman, CEO of Tutoring Australasia, the company behind yourtutor, said.
Yourtutor is available all year round and uses interactive chat, whiteboards, file uploading, and web browsing so that the tutor can comprehensively help each student understand the problem.
“We have seen students using the service to study for the HSC even since January, and now that the HSC is here, students are rushing to ask tutors questions and to walk through processes, formulas, techniques, and concepts before they sit exams,” Mr Goodman said.
“Students who have never used yourtutor before don’t need to sign up or register.
“It’s just a matter of putting in a library card number, getting help, and feeling better about going into exams.”
