VALLA Beach resident Robyn Gray gave an emotional recount of lives she has seen lost on the highway in her hometown.
Her heartfelt plea to have the road fixed was reciprocated by all at the Urunga rally.
Both Robyn, and fellow resident Molly Bence, have found themselves discussing the state of the highway on numerous occasions.
“We talk about the highway, near misses and our trips to the supermarket as commonly as talking about the weather,” they said.
“Each time we go to the supermarket down in Nambucca, we feel we are putting our lives in danger.
At both the Valla Beach turn onto the highway, and the northern entrance into Nambucca.
“Both these intersections need to be addressed, and the speed limit needs to be reduced.
“We need to see an improvement in the roads, a dual carriageway, more police and mobile speed cameras.
All the time people slow down for a speed camera and then speed up again once they’ve passed it.
“The carnage needs to stop.”
