There are many quiet achievers hidden in the Nambucca Valley as is evident in two of the shire’s local school students.
Macksville High School’s Dana Kraschnefski and Frank Partridge VC Primary School’s Haydn Shannon have proven themselves both exemplary students and exceptional musicians.
Dana and Haydn study music privately after school and undertake examinations for music practice and theory with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB).
In May this year Dana achieved a perfect score of 100 per cent for her music theory studies and Haydn received a high distinction on the same subject.
They performed just as well in their practical exams with Dana being awarded a high distinction in singing, and young Haydn receiving honours for third grade piano.
When asked what both students saw their musical future to be both agreed that they intended to continue studies because it was source of great enjoyment.
“I have been learning classical training for the past two years,” Dana said.
“I have always loved music and it is great that I can finally do something about it.
“Music is definitely in my future.”
Dana, who is currently in year 11 and completing her higher school certificate studies, was recently recognised for her hard work and given a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ during Education Week.
The award handed down by the NSW Department of Education and Training came with a comment from Macksville High School Principal Paul Holding: “Dana is an excellent role model for junior students.
She is always enthusiastic and co-operative and mixes well both socially and academically.”
Well done to both students for their outstanding achievements.
