Parents interested in seeing an Adventist high school opened in the Nambucca Valley have been asked to contact Macksville Adventist School.
The school’s principal, David McNeill, said there had been some interest shown in having more local choice for high school students.
He said this was the time for interested parents to formally let the school know if they would want to enroll their child for year seven in 2012.
The small Adventist primary school is looking into the possibility of extending to offer year seven after the rapid growth of similar Kempsey and Lismore high schools in recent years. Currently many students travel out of the Valley to attend independent high schools.
Mr McNeill said he had seen this trend occurring and would like to offer people the opportunity to show their interest in starting a local program, which he said would continue the school’s current values-based education system, with a focus on community service.
The primary school, which currently has a total of 24 students, would need an enrollment of at least 25 to begin a year seven class in 2012.
Mr McNeill said, if that occurred, the school would slowly add the rest of the senior years, and expand the facilities of the school as needed. The school can be contacted on 6568 2107.
