Former Macksville High School student Micthell Cooper has been working at the school undertaking a pilot volunteer program as part of the final year secondary teacher education program from Southern Cross University.
Mitchell has been studying for his Bachelor of Technology Education and would be completed at the end of this year.
During his practical training, Mitchell had been assisting teachers in the Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) faculty, spending time in class and getting the know the school community.
Mitchell said after he completed Year 12 he decided that since he enjoyed TAS subjects so much, and with the assistance of his school career’s adviser, he was able to gain a scholarship that has greatly assisted him in achieving his dreams of being a school teacher.
Macksville High School Principal Paul Holding said Mitchell would be an asset to the teaching profession and it was rewarding for the school’s teachers to see past students achieve their goals and be successful in their career aspirations.
