Talented local singer Amellia Aston was named this year’s Nambucca Idol winner.
After four weeks of hotly contested competition at Nambucca Heads RSL Club, Amellia was named idol winner last Friday night (13th) at the competition finale.
Amellia was one of nine talented singers to perform on the night.
There was a tie for second, with Hannah Unterrheimer and Laura McMahon both named runner-up; and third place in the competition was claimed by Sam Dyball.
Amellia said the Nambucca Idol experience had helped her as a performer.
Known more commonly for her vocal work in the local band Incognito, Amellia wanted to participate in the competition and get “out of her comfort zone”.
“I’m used to doing three to four-hour gigs with people I’m comfortable with and in my own space.
“So I thought performing in front of a panel of judges would be healthy for my development as a performer,” Amellia said.
The former Macksville High School student said she had always wanted to be a singer and hoped to one day pursue a career in the profession.
